Check out this new front porch by Rainoff Exterior Solutions! We are proud of the great success that this project became. This build included using Trex decking, a custom tongue & groove cedar ceiling, full porch roof with shingles color matched to the home, and a brand-new seamless gutter to put the whole thing together.
With a brand-new roof and 5" k-style seamless gutter and downspout, we can ensure that all water will be directed away from the porch with no leaks.
Enhance your home's curb appeal with composite decking. On this project, the client decided to go with Trex Transcend decking. This particular color is called Lava Rock. Trex boards don't rot, warp, or splinter. They also have a lifespan significantly higher than pressure treated wood and are backed by a 50-year residential warranty.
Enjoy the raw look of the tongue & groove cedar ceiling. Each board is coated multiple times with a polyurethane finish, allowing the natural wood grains and knots to add character to the porch. Wood posts to be wrapped with pine board next year. You must give new PT wood a year before wrapping to allow for contraction.
After beginning to sand the door, we quickly realized that there weren't just a few coats of polyurethane. In fact, the orbital sander couldn't get down to bare wood. We had to use hardwood scrapers to get down to the base. In total, we counted 12 coats of polyurethane on the whole door.
The dirtiest (darkest) and most weathered part of the door is the sill plate. Because of this, the sill took longer than any other part. However, we still managed to get through all of it to expose the beautiful natural oak.
After completing the majority of the major flat surface area sections, it's time for detail work. We had to follow the contour of the door design, and then sand it all level and smooth.
This natural oak door has been aging for 35 years. It also had 35 years' worth of polyurethane and dirt coated on it! After completing all contour detail work on sanding and scraping, we did a final sand, prep, and began coating with a satin semigloss. This photo is after 3 coats. The poly makes the wood grains stand out and brings more character to the door.
This client had weeds taking over her patio! We began by removing each paver and power-washing them clean. We then removed all of the weeds in the patio area by their roots, and sprayed a safe weed killing agent, so they don't come back.
This client's backyard floods every time it rains due to the slope of his property. He requested that we run the downspouts for his new back gutters all the way to the front of his home. This significantly decreases the amount of water pooling up in his backyard when it rains.
